As a Site Reliability Engineer, you are someone on a mission to design and automate performant and highly available infrastructure. Power Home Remodeling is looking for a Site Reliability Engineer, with a Networking focus, to join the Business Technology team at our headquarters, just outside of Philadelphia, PA.  We are reinventing the home remodeling industry and to do that, Power needs a reliable and innovative SRE who will design, continuously improve, and automate a performant and highly available infrastructure. This position will emphasize the Networking aspects of site reliability, including LAN and WAN responsibilities.

You will be part of a diverse Site Reliability team and work alongside other top talent, including our growing team of application architects, UX designers, and software developers.  You will be empowered to make decisions and enjoy great latitude in choosing the right tools, equipment and methods for the job.  As an experienced network engineer, you will be expected to bring your knowledge to help us expand and maintain an adaptive, flexible, and reconfigurable infrastructure which is designed to meet the needs of an expanding business.  We need your help to strengthen the speed of our systems while supporting a dynamic technology platform that never stops.

As Power’s technology-focused business unit, our mission is to deliver a platform for applications, enabling developers to rapidly iterate and support business priorities as quickly and efficiently as possible utilizing Agile methodologies.  To date, we have put effort into making our network infrastructure automated with tools like Ansible.  We are now moving into the next generation with containers using Kubernetes, enabling rapid development of new services.  Our team is growing. As we continue to expand the company into new territories throughout the continental United States, we want to ensure that the network capacity is prepared for the increased utilization, and monitored for consistent availability and predictive trends.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience, especially with networking
  • Knowledge of Firewall and Network technologies (LAN/WAN, Switching, Routing, IP Addressing, Firewall Policy, IDS/IPS, BGP)
  • Proven track record of delivering incremental value continuously
  • Proven track record of network automation
  • Operational experience in high-availability environments

Preferred Experience

  • Network Platform: Cisco & Meraki
  • Server Operating System: Ubuntu Linux
  • Virtualization: Kubernetes/Docker, VMware
  • Storage: NFS, Object Storage (S3/NetApp)
  • Automation: Ansible, Puppet, Jenkins, Terraform
  • Telephony: SIP, Asterisk
  • Organizational tools: Scrum, Git, Github
  • Multi-site WAN links, fiber, metro ethernet and DMVPN
  • Routing & switching, wireless networks
  • Private cloud technologies, especially Kubernetes & Docker
  • PaaS and/or IaaS
  • Appreciation for Agile methodologies such as Scrum

Location
Power Home Remodeling’s corporate headquarters, which is located in Chester, Pennsylvania, just south of Philadelphia.  During the COVID-19 pandemic, most work will be remote.
